SEVEN MONTHS DEVELOPMENT
  • Imitates speech sounds-babbles
  • Sits unsupported
  • Feeds self cracker
  • Makes wet “razz” sounds
May Begin To:
  • Crawl or lunge forward
  • Combine syllables into sounds of familiar words
  • Play peek-a-boo
  • Stand while holding onto something or someone
May Work Towards:
  • Waving bye-bye
  • Moving into sitting position from stomach
  • Walking holding onto furniture
  • Saying Mama and Dada
EIGHT MONTHS DEVELOPMENT
  • Looks for dropped object
  • Passes object from one hand to other
  • Bears weight when held up
  • Turns in direction of voice when spoken to
May Begin To:
  • Move into sitting position from stomach
  • Object if you take toy away
  • Crawl well and quickly
  • Pick up tiny objects with pincer grasp
May Work Towards:
  • Pointing at objects
  • Pulling to standing position and cruise holding onto furniture
  • Standing alone momentarily
  • Indicating desires by gesturing
NINE MONTHS DEVELOPMENT
  • Stands while holding on
  • Looks for desired object and moves towards it
  • Pulls up to standing unassisted
  • Uses pincer grasp to pick up small objects
May Begin To:
  • Bang things together with intent and watch for reaction
  • Understand the word no (without obeying it)
  • Clap, clasp hands, wave, play patty-cake
May Work Towards:
  • Drinking from cup independently
  • Playing ball or rolling ball away from self
  • Standing alone for longer time frame
  • Responding to one step command
